The CounterStrike community is leading the charge for female participation in esports as another major CS:GO tournament has been announced.
The concept of girls in gaming isn’t a new one, but it’s certainly gaining more traction during this recent esports boom. The Russian organisation, StarLadder, strive to continue this trend as they have announced their own female CS:GO tournament. It’ll take place on July 16th-17th.
The competition format will feature two divisions (Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States) which will battle it out over an online qualifier for the chance to represent their own region in the offline finals, set to be held in St.Petersburg during the festival of VK FEST; an event hosted by a well known social media platform in CIS. The organisers expect a large turnout noting:
“The last time the festival was visited by over 80,000 people, but this year this figure will increase by several times.”
